A couple of notes, You run vista, it was always renown for being a bad version of windows. I used to run it before windows 7 too, and it was a bit of a dog.
You have 2 gig of ram, its a little light now days.
Looking at the stuff you copy pasted..
Fault Module Name: d3dx9_31.dll
So does that mean the fault was in your direct X 9?
So maybe you just need to update your graphics card drivers, and then update your direct X. I would not look for direct x 11, and only go up to 10.
