Ph3lan: Hey guys! I had a talk to Skill about this and he already
talked about it on his stream as well. Here is what I explained to
him: I completely understand his point of view, this kind of team
damage is always extremely frustrating especially when he is going
for a mark on the tank. I can sympathize especially since as a
"former" streamer and as a WG staff member I am more in people's
cross-hairs than most others. That's unfortunately part of the "job
description" for everyone who becomes well known. It is
completely understandable that he reacted the way he did, we would
all be salty after that, however he also put us both in a strange
situation. On his end, he does't want to break his word but he also
doesn't want to leave the contributor program, which benefits his
channel and audience. On our end, we have an automated system which
deals with team killers (more on that later) and we don't want to
single out our contributors and give them "special treatment",
that's not the idea behind the program. But we also don't want
to lose one of our contributors because one player decided that he
wants to be stupid and get famous by killing Skill. To be
clear, the automated team kill system is very good at finding
people who do this kind of stuff more than once, but it is not all
knowing. It has to have some kind of safety margin to account for
accidental friendly fire shots as well ( I am sure that
everyone would hate to be banned after a single unintentional shot
going slightly off-center and hitting an ally). The
system actually flagged the player for this friendly fire and if he
continuous to brake the rules he will get his punishment.
The bottom line is that we don't want contributors to
force us (I know that was not Skill's intent here, he was
simply upset) into giving them special treatment, that's not
what the contributor program is and it would set a very dangerous
precedent.
