It's not so much the developers or the rank and file workers of any company who get up to this sort of thing. It's always the bigwig bosses who wouldn't know a decent video game if it infested their nostrils and bore young. But no doubt someone at WG has got one of those marker pens, stood in front of a white board, and addressed a bunch of shareholders telling them crap like "the average adult male in the EU has X amount of euros they spend on gaming a month. We believe we can get 50% of that by doing Y" *sniffs marker*. People will spend on this game. But there comes a point when you're not asking for a modest amount to both run things and have a successful business, but you're just asking for more money to announce to the world that you're the new Donald Trump, and that makes the other involved in the transaction feel insulted.
South Coast is a horrific mess for many of us running at 8 FPS. Sometimes we fire, often we hit, we penetrate, and see the enemy tank just swallow the shot (don't give me crap about spaced armor - change the "hit" indication for that if it is there). We have random spotting. We still have crashing and UI issues. And while the game has been in this state for a while now, without this stuff being addressed, we are getting yet more and more crap we can buy being thrown at us. It's not as if the company is struggling, it's enormously successful at a time when a lot of other game studioes are going out of business. Congratulations WG and I sincerely hope you continue to do well. But fix this product you are constantly trying to sell me and make it more appealing if you want to make yet more money because right now you've got as much out of it as you deserved.

Overlord: Addressing level design and maps issues, including map performance,
we are determined to do some overhaul of map creation process in early 2013 which will include, barring some internal procedural changes, tougher requirements and being more responsive to player feedback regarding maps on a regular basis.
That should increase map quality.
