[T23] Possible ammo rack bug

over the past few days with my T23 I noticed that the ammo rack on this tank seems to be...in a weird location.
I first noticed this, when a guy was shooting my tracks front the front (right side) and all of a sudden hit my ammo rack. I was like "What?" - Saw the hole in the front and considered this an accident. So I repaired my ammo rack and he shot the same space once again (detracking me, 0 damage) but hit the ammo rack once again.

In the above picture, you can see, where people tend to hit your "ammo rack" on the T23.
So yes, I considered this a coincidence, until a saw a pattern emerge. People tend to shoot this spot with a careful aim and with HE instead of AP to instantly blow you up / hit your ammo rack.
Why am I posting this?
Because the last 3 EDIT:(7!) games (yes), I got one shotted by tanks, aiming for this specific spot at my right tracks with HE shots, instantly blowing me up.
And yes, they succeeded.
What's the problem with that?`Are they now storing ammo in the mudguards?
