but in 1939 the allied forces lost the battle over western europe , but not the war .

Poland was conquered at September 1939.
Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France were conquered during Spring-Summer 1940, British Expeditionary Force in Europe was defeated during the same time.
German surrender took place 7th May 1945 for Western Allies and 9th May for Soviet Union.
