all over the war, not all together at one moment, whilst German
tank production was higher than 4k total.
German tank production made about 5.2k tanks (+TDs) in 1941, 9.3k in 1942, 19.8k in 1943, 27.3k in 1944.
Soviet tank production made about 6.6.k tanks in 1941, 24.5k in 1942, 24k in 1943, 28.9k in 1944 and 15.4k in 1945.\
(Based on Overy's "Russia's War", I can check other books if you want, I have lots of them with similar numbers)
One more interesting comparison. T-34 could be made in 3.000 humanhours. Panther in... 55.000 humanhours.
Ideal war machine should not be the most expensive, hard to produce or most armoured. Ideal war machine should be universal weapon, helping its side to win the war.
