Being reported

I spent minutes slowly getting it out and into a position where I could fire on the nearby enemy. When I did I started to dish out the damage including the kill-shot on at least one tank. I then took loads of abuse saying that because I was shooting tanks that had already taken damage getting the final kill was a reportable issue!! Really, Arty fires on target others spot, its not uncommon to be late to the party, spending ages lining up shots etc. What are everyone's thoughts?
