DeLawrence, on 08 February 2021 - 03:37 PM, said: [removed] BACK ON TOPIC: WG, how could you let slip one of
your greatest oversights in recent history?! This is a
sandbox server iteration meant to test HE, right? Then why, for
heaven's sake haven't you limited all the loadouts to HE only? I
have literally been hit by HE 5 times in 5 games...people are
so stupid(I'm sorry to call them that, but that's the reality),
they're spamming HEATs and APCRs on a server meant to TEST HE.
Jesus Christ! Having played 1 FV 4005 game, 2 Type 5 heavy
games(14cm) and 2 STRV 103B games, all full HE ofc and half HESH,
half HE for the FV, I can say that I initially find the changes
pretty good. The HE damage is consistent. The super heavies have
definitely been buffed, armor in general has been buffed against
HE. The amounts of damage are quite low, as expected though for non
penetrating shots. That in itself isn't an issue, but I'm sorry to
say it's going to quickly become one in the context of the state of
special ammo and corridor maps. The mechanics make sense, but
that's about it, I can't say for sure if they're healthy or not for
the game That's my first impression, I'll play more and form a more
informed opinion.Dwigt:

Sandbox HE test a waste of every ones time as people are
only firing gold premium.Dwigt: While Sandbox isn't an exact representation of the live
server, we have to recreate the a close battle experience so that
you get to test the changes as if it was on the live
server. However, I understand that some players are only using
premium ammo, it doesn't prevent you from using HE or testing the
changes yourself. Maybe some players missed the important
news?
However, regarding the HE
changes, glad that you like it and that you think it's heading in
the right direction. You still have a week of testing so I
encourage you to keep testing and ofc don't forget about the survey
in the end!Thank you and good luck!

do you actually want to test anything? Besides that I like
the HE change However I'm unable to provide more feedback without
training room.Dwigt:
daveirich, on 08 February 2021 - 04:11 PM, said: First time downloading the sandbox server as a relatively new
player looking to give some feedback along trying a few new tanks I
don't have. Met with turbo battles with 3 arties and full gold
spammers, with 5 or 6 FVs per battle. Can't really offer any
reliable feedback with these conditions or how WG can learn
anything either. Will try lower tiers yet but can imagine it's KV2s
and M44s doing the same. As others have suggested,
training rooms with controlled use of HE in different scenarios
would be more useful. Not enough incentive to
stick around, uninstalled. Dwigt: Sandbox isn't only about testing the changes in a 1v1 environment
but in a similar live server environment. This would give both you
and us a better view and result on those changes. The incentive is
to see what's coming and have a direct line to the
developers.
Ragnaguard, on 08 February 2021 - 04:25 PM, said: just seen the stream ..... eek avoids to answer any answer
questions or gold shells quiestions (indicated that IF gold
needs rework they will do it futher down the line).... XD
this is the problem... they do not recognise the problem.... they
have 0 awareness on what annoys playerbaseDwigt: It's avoiding questions but since we're still on sandbox, nothing
is certain yet and we don't have all the answers. Last year we
had a full ammo system rework and, like I said last
week, we're starting this year with the HE first and
maybe then we should be able to go and revisit other
elements.
Misago, on 08 February 2021 - 04:59 PM, said: So what will this do with the EBRs fighting other light tanks? They
already did tons of damage by running around spamming HE, so with
the ability of HE to go through tracks and skirts, that's gonna
become much worse, no?Dwigt: HE will now penetrate screens and tracks but you should still be
able to pen the tank armor which is not always guaranteed. However,
as I said last week, those HE changes will also impact the EBRs.
Also applies on EBRs wheels. You need aim now and damage isn't
always guaranteed.
Trios92, on 08 February 2021 - 05:34 PM, said: I didn't installed the test server yet , but from the video , in
short words YOU WILL MAKE TANKS WITH UNPENETRABLE TURRETS
OVERPOWERDDwigt: Better to try and see how it self. The video is good but not
enough. And you'll get some rewards and a survey too

end of the sandbox ? They say we can only collect 90 tokens max?
How many credit boosters we can exchange with them ?Dwigt: They say we can only collect 90 tokens max? How many credit

FT03, on 08 February 2021 - 06:37 PM, said: What is the difference between sandbox test and common test? Dwigt: We usually test big changes and features on our Sandbox servers.
It's the early stages and they might not even get to the
game.Common test changes are usually confirmed and would go
live.
3MAJ86, on 08 February 2021 - 07:02 PM, said: Starcraft 2 is balanced around pro players. It is
probably the most balanced game there is, and that is why it is so
successful for 10+ years! And it is so good, exactly because it is
balanced around the top players, not around the bottom ones.
HE rework is long overdue, and this is going in good
direction. Players will actually need to aim their shells, not only
to do right click - left click combo for guaranteed 400-500 dmg
from their favorite 150+mm gun in tier 10. If I find
superior position with my tank, it means that i am playing better
than the opponent, and why should I be punished for that? When you
meet a hull-down tank in perfect position, find another way to
engage him, don't cry for your lack of skills. The another layer of
the problem is that, there are some maps with superior hull-down
positions that can't be flanked. But this is the issue of map
design, not the issue of HE shells. They should go away anyway! HE
shells are ok to damage tracks, and external modules, and to
one-shot clickers or so. Not to punish players that know to play
the game effectively. I didn't try the sandbox server, but
I've read extensively about the change, and I really like it! This
is definitely the step in the right direction. Dwigt: Great description and reasoning why want to try those changes.I
would encourage you to go and try them!
Sturmi_0545, on 08 February 2021 - 07:12 PM, said: I wish for a sandbox test where they test the following setup:
- same tier MM only, - no gold ammo, - max. 2 arties per
side (but mostly 0-1), - completely new nations with full tech
trees. Dwigt: We tested the IT heavies on sandbox with CCs.As for the rest of
those changes you're proposing, maybe not on this sandbox. Now
we're just starting with the HE, SPGs and Crew 2.0.
Luonteri, on 09 February 2021 - 02:37 AM, said: This current HE problem is not limited to Chieftains. It
applies to all kinds of heavy tanks that should be able to use
their armour and outplay their opponents with precise shots and
good maneuver. A good example would be the obj. 277 - it gets
absolutely destroyed by lets say a T110E3 that shoots HE only to
the side of the 277 that tries to make himself a hard target but
simply can't. The TD can easily deal 400-500 guaranteed damage with
each shot. Most of the times both guys have team mates around them
so everyone is stuck in a face to face fight behind some corner or
other cover. And what do you do then? You start side scraping. Now
tell me that spamming HE to the sides and tracks of heavy tanks is
not the most stupid and brainless mechanic that requires zero
knowledge or skill. And yet it is very rewarding with the
current system.Dwigt: That's a nice way to put describe the cons of the current HE
mechanics. This would also help heavies and serve as a general
buff like you said. Good positioning and covering your weakspots
should be rewarded.
