For context, the Renegade has 40 less alpha and 9.78 base reload time... not far off half (or twice the rate of fire). The M4A1 Rev has 390 alpha and 12.27 base reload, 0.34 base dispersion. Italian heavies and now this... I guess Wargaming hates DPM now :(

Dwigt: It's not that we hate DPM but we're trying to release a balanced and interesting tank. This one, like the Bourrasque from last year, should have an interesting gameplay for a medium.

Dwigt: You can just keep it in your depot. Make sure you remove those fireworks first!

Dwigt: You have 2 types of missions and the Tier 9 option of completing the Mastery missions was added in the last marathon. So that should make it easier to get it for free if you have time.

Well obviously this isn't aimed at allowing you the player get it for free but to get part of the way in and then shell out money to get the tank.   What is predatory about it is quite simple. They want to get you invested into the sunken cost fallacy. Because you already invested so much time getting to where you are you in the marathon, it would be a waste to not get it.   Don't get sucked in by this kind o behavior. It is disgusting and WG has been doing it for years. Don't reward bad buisness practices!   Now as for why this is not a reasonably attainable by people. You have to farm 250K base XP over 10 days. The 2 important factors here are BASE XP and 10 DAYS. Your boosters don't help, premium time don't help, tanks that generate additional XP don't help.   So if we divide 250K by 10 days we get an average of 25k a day necessary to get the tank. If this doesn't looks like much I'll remind you again. this is base XP.   The average base xp per battle ranges from 100 to 300 in a loss and 300 to 500 in a victory. Yes you can go higher in a good game but you can also go lower in a bad game and we are talking averages here.   So the average XP per game is around 300, assuming a 50% win ratio that should about be 300 base xp. Now 25000/300=83.(3). In average 84 battles a day since we can't round down or we fail to reach the total XP goal.   Battles can last 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the game mode, but in my experience the average battle lasts around 8 minutes. There is ones that go longer, there are ones that go shorter, but in average we can assume 8 minutes. so 84x8=672 minutes played per day in average. 672/60=11.2 hours played a day since minutes might not be giving you the picture how long you are going to grind every day.   Now I am sure all of you know this, but for the average working person, excluding weekends, we can expect somewhere between 1 hour and 3 hours of time to play. That is 100% impossible to get. If you think that they have a job so they can pay for it. The whole point of tank marathons should be to get people playing more and reward people for it, not to try and force those people to spend money on it. But that's exactly what WG is trying to do.   And what about the people who don't work? Well forcing a person to play a game for let's round it down and say 11 hours a day is practically slave labor conditions. Because they are working to get the tank no matter how you look at it. And they are working to promote your game by having the servers populated and having people to play against. If we look at the reality of the situation, because there is almost no one who plays WoT 11 hours a day out of sheer pleasure for playing, it is identical to working for something you want. But at the end of the day a medium tier 8 tank normally costs around 25€. That is the realistic value of the 122-tm, 25€. So a player that doesn't has a job and is essencially working for WG by playing the game non stop every day for these 10 days grinding 25k base XP a day is working for 2.5€ a day and that is a 11 hour work a day (rounding down, it's actually more). 2.5/11=0.2(27). Essencially, WG is saying that the hour of work you put in to the tank that hour of your time dedicated to them is work less than 3cents. If this is not slave labor, I don't know what is!   Now the more intelligent people out there have already realised this and they were never realy the target, but for those of you who are thinking that I am completly wrong in my math let me throw you a little bit more data for idea that you might have thought to use against what I said.   Some of you might say that you can abandon battle earlier once you've died and that saves a lot of time. This is correct, however if you are dying early that also means you earn far less XP than if you die at the end of the battle. Just being alive for longer alone already earns more xp. Surviving longer also means you probably shoot more and deal more damage. So this actually balances out. You can die early and go to the next battle and earn less xp per battle or you can stay alive longer, earn more xp but play less battles. It will all still average out in time played to get to the 25K a day.   Some of you might say good players don't need nearly as much time because they can earn well over double that base xp per battle. This is correct, however I am talking about the average player. The good players are more often than not in good clans and they actively participate in clan wars and make a lot of gold from territories. That is to say they already can have most of the things they want without spending money anyway. This is directed at the average player. He doesn't do so great but he isn't so bad either.. He is also the majority of the population of the server.   Some of you may say that playing a game isn't working. That is only true if you are having fun. If you are playing a game because you want to archieve anything to the point that you are no longer having fun and just want it to be over but still do it because you want to get it. Then it is work. I am sure that many of you have heard people talk about many games and how getting anywhere in those games requires you to sink so much time that the game is more like a second job and ceases to be fun as a result. The same is applied here.   Some of you can be say that even if all of this is true, WG is not using us as worker, we are just playing a game, whether we see it as fun, a chore or work, to them we are not working. That is wrong too. Anyone playing their game is promoting their game by keeping the servers highly populated. If the servers were not highly populated, queues woul take long to fill and more people would just stop playing because they don't like waiting. In other words, a small server population only tends to keep declining until the game dies out. Now, while it is true that the server population even without a marathon is nowhere near any point where we can consider it declining, it's also true that more people poluating the server is still a big boon for them. Thus anyone playing is actively working to keep the game healthy.   Have a good and remember. WG wants your wallet. While every company does and that is not necessarely bad. WG is doing so by recurring to bad practices. Stop encouraging that behavior.

Dwigt: So first of all, thank you for your detailed explanation. Some players will really find it useful. Like we always say, we have different kinds of events available for all our players and no one is forced to play. If you like the tank and think it's worth the grind then go for it and grab it for free.If you're working all day long, no one is asking you or forcing you to quit your job to get the tank. Play moderately, enjoy the game during those 1-3 hours and if you manage to get a decent discount then, only you can decide if you want to buy it or not.  The tank is available for everyone just like any other marathon. Not everyone would be able to finish a marathon in real life, some of us will go for the 10k marathon, others will go to show their costumes and others (me included) will watch it on TV :D
