View PostEddywils, on Nov 08 2012 - 08:09, said: I think the current skirmish format is really bad.  Their are a small group of clans who consistently win all the time and no one else can get a look in.
I think that WOT should restrict the skirmish entries so that past winners have to wait at least a month before they can register for another skirmish.  And perhaps it might have to apply to the whole clan to stop them using each others accounts.
Any thoughts on this?

Captain_Judo: We won't restrict entries on this basis. But we're definitely looking into tournaments that foster the development and growth of less successful teams. Stay tuned :)

Please?

GeneralDirection: Well, I don't want to make it seem like an "us versus them" situation. The Game Design team's request is to limit the use of 5x events because of how much it affects progression--especially for folks who have a lot of tanks and play all of them for the 5x wins. We're able to make exceptions for this at times, and luckily this was one such case since the Golden Joystick Celebration was a global event.
I meant to post a "how we design events" article a while back to provide a little more clarity on our approach. Maybe it's time I get around to writing that. :)

View PostForvet, on Nov 09 2012 - 04:30, said: Devs, since your reading this, I have a question for you. Will you be including any tree tweaks... buffs, for say the british tanks after seeing how they did on the open server? I, and many clanmates, friends, and fellow players on WoT have voiced quite a bit of frusttration with how underpowered the british tanks from teir 5 to 7 are. While I can't say how the entire server is doing, will you be including tweaks to existing trees? Or will you be only addressing the addition of new tanks and maps?
P.S., I was quite infuriated with the Chinese tank tree addition, however, the fact the devs have actually voiced reasoning behind the decision and are -listening- to their NA playerbase has actually quite nullified any anger or frustration on my part.

GeneralDirection: Absolutely. We'll always take a look back at how vehicles are performing overall, no matter how many new branches and nations are added. We made a pretty big pass in 7.5, and a bit more of a balancing pass in 8.0. If we need to make another pass in the future we definitely will. We realize that not everything is perfectly balanced--it's the nature of an online game that continually updates, introducing new mechanics and things players aren't used to. So we're fine with revisiting things when we need to.

GeneralDirection: Laws require limitations on play time, for one. So there is some tricky balancing with the economy and progression pacing.

GeneralDirection: No--the Chinese server requires special balance, but that will not carry over along with the tech tree. The Chinese vehicles will be balanced on the public test the same as other trees are.

View PostOgopogo, on Nov 09 2012 - 03:27, said: If I recall, balance on the Chinese server is separate from the NA server.

GeneralDirection: Correct.

View Post1SLUGGO1, on Nov 09 2012 - 03:31, said: Is that why it was announced with only 17 tanks currently in the wiki tree?

GeneralDirection: You mean the Chinese tree? Well, that one we're still trying to figure some of it out. But there are plans to expand it further than the current 17 vehicles. How far is still up in the air; it probably won't be as large as a full US, USSR or German tree. But then again, you guys haven't even seen those full trees yet. :)
Other trees? No, it's just part of the overall production plan. We've found mixing the branches in keeps players more excited about the development of the tech tree than simply releasing a single nation update after update until it's done.

Keep in mind that registration will close two days prior to initiating the tournament. All information will then be publicly available! Good luck :)

Actually, stop reworking all the maps. You are just making them worse by removing all the arty cover.

Mugsy_: You liked the previous version of El Halluf more? What made the previous version superior? What alternative changes could have been made that would have improved the map that we didn't take advantage of?
Unfortunately the maps have to be reworked to take advantage of both the physics and the rendering. But you can participate in how they are reworked by giving detailed constructive feedback. So I'm here to listen.
