there's no individual server where people from these forums test

Does this indicate that you will need to level up a separate crew for each tank line (like in Navyfield)? Jeremy Taylor: World of Tanks has its leveling system that makes it become related
to RPG. Referring to Germany, the player starts with a historically
accurate small tank called Leichtetraktor and then upgrades to the
top tank Maus of the 10th level (famous super heavy prototype).
Player may choose one of several tech trees or may level up
different types of fighting vehicles at the same time. Moreover,
player may level up different panzers of different nations. Each
fighting vehicle has a number of modifications to be upgraded as
well like turret, guns, tracks and radio. And each module
modification stays within the bounds of historical correctness.
Regarding that players will have 150 models of fighting vehicles in
the release version and nearly 350 will be added later, there's
actually no "dead-end" in World of Tanks . The only possible dead-end I see
here is to collect all the panzers available in the game and max
them out.

tree represents the fighting vehicles from USSR you'll see in
the release version, Fall, 2010. The full Soviet tank tree
includes more panzers that will be added to the basic release tree
gradually. Thus, you'll see 36 Soviet vehicles in the release and
25 more will be added later on. And by the way, almost all the
release panzers from Germany and USSR will be available in

The game balance is designed in such a way, that the situation you've described is hardly possible to happen. To be honest, I can’t recollect such situations during the Russian closed beta testing. Anyway, even if the player is that much short of credits that can't even repair his panzer, there are always two 1st level tanks (MS-1 and Leichtetraktor at the moment) at his garage that cost nothing and can be used for leveling up from the start.

Jeremy Taylor: Let me use this thread as the opportunity to remind others that the
game is free. The revenue needed to keep the project afloat and
improve in what follows will be generated from micropayments. In
outline, players will be able to purchase for real money such items
as:
- Premium accounts; the premium gives +50% to credits and gold per battle to the owner. Premium account is a very good thing for players who don't have enough time in real life to dedicate to their favorite game. Still however, this account will not give you any advantages in battles. I mean, Tiger achieved through playing with premium will be absolutely equal to Tiger achieved without any investments. The only advantage is your time saved.
- Premium tanks; these are some prominent special tanks that will be a kind of jewels in the crown of your collection.
- Gold; players will be able to purchase some additional gold to be later exchanged into ingame credits
- Custom features; some personal drawings, insignias, custom camouflage and clan emblems available for money.
Still, we believe that majority of players will be getting tons of fun playing World of Tanks without investing a penny.

Jeremy Taylor: - Yes, undoubtedly
- Some tastiest territories will bring additional revenue in gold (I can't tell the frequency of gold assignment). Moreover, there is also some “economy” and “crafting”, along with monetary revenues; clans can build factories, which produce special tanks and tank components/ammo over time.
- Hardly possible, World of Tanks is a PvP-focused game
- The clan may include up to 100 players. Each player is visualized as a chip on the clan war map. By moving these chips through territories, the clan commander is splitting forces and will giving orders to attack/defend this or that territory
- The clan will get its landing zone again and will try to get back its territories. There are some other options as joining other clans or become mercenaries. There is a Mercenary market, where Clan Masters can recruit such players for reinforcing their clans in Clan Wars or other events.

Jeremy Taylor: As far as many of you know, we have a limitation on the number of
players in a team in the Russian closed beta and this limitation is
equal to 15. Still, the number of players for a team will be
increased up to 30 depending on a map; thus some clan war
battlefields will hold up to 60 panzers accordingly.

Link on message: #8926
Jeremy Taylor: As I started receiving more and more private requests on revealing
the information about the clan wars in World of Tanks, here I will
provide some updated info on that exciting mode. In outline, let's
imagine a global map (Earth 1940’s, similar to that of Hearts of
Iron or Total War) divided into hundreds of provinces. At the very
beginning, we will start from the western boards of Germany to
Volga and from Scandinavian countries to Romania. There are some
several economic categories of provinces, from basic ones to
“capitals” that will give most monetary benefits to their owners.
Once per day Clan Masters declare attacks on neutral or enemy
provinces, and a corresponding number of battles are scheduled and
take place accordingly. The bigger your clan is, the harder it gets
to repel attacks and expand your empire. That’s why diplomacy plays
an immensely important role. Clans can sign treaties,
non-aggression pacts, become vassals, etc. The exact distribution
of Clans’ forces among captured provinces is not visible to
opponents (thus, many battles will have the element of surprise),
but the game allows special recon and anti-spying techniques, which
increase/decrease the “strategic visibility”. Having a couple of
solid alliances will help protect the Clan’s flanks and rear. But
we also expect a lot of treachery, changing alliances,
double-agents, stubbing in the back and other political tricks. New
clans enter the map by having a chance to fight a battle for one of
the “coastal” provinces. If they kick the owner out, that province
will be their new home, from where they will expand deeper into the
continent. The more panzers you have the more powerful your clan
is, but in order to start fighting and capturing the provinces you
should gather a team of 15 players. Clans can also participate in
Clan Tournaments; those will last for much shorter time: from a
couple of hours to a couple of days.
We will gradually add various fascinating features and options into the World of Tanks clan war mode to make it run for years.

Jeremy Taylor: At least two modes will allow players to choose the maps to fight
on: team mode and training mode. The purpose of random fights is to
help newcomers get the understanding of the game, its controls, and
concept, etc. Mature players are polishing their individual
fighting skills and practice team cooperation during random
battles. But random fights will obviously be edged out by more
exciting team mode when it is ready.

player uses auto aiming . However, manual aiming is more
efficient. At this moment we have one server in Germany. Using an
auto aiming is often a necessity for American players who have
higher pings and play in the Russian beta. Still, the problem of
high pings in America will be solved easily when we install the

Jeremy Taylor: Actually, this is rather a common question about World of Tanks and
I'll try to give as comprehensive answer as possible. To make a
long story short, World of Tanks has its leveling system. Referring
to Germany, the player starts with a historically accurate small
tank called Leichtetraktor and then upgrades to the top tank Maus
of the 10th level (famous super heavy prototype). Player may choose
one of several tech trees or may level up different types of
fighting vehicles at the same time. Moreover, player may level up
different panzers of different nations. Then, we will implement the
crew system where each crew member is upgraded individually. Each
fighting vehicle has a number of modifications to be upgraded as
well like turret, guns, tracks and radio. And each module
modification stays within the bounds of historical correctness (no
chance to install the turret from Tiger on the Soviet tank).
Each MMO game has its system of custom features and World of Tanks is not an exception. Players will be able to have custom drawings or clan insignias on their tanks.
Talking about persistent world, we are putting a very strong emphasis on Clan war mode in World of Tanks. In the clan war mode, there is a global map (Earth 1940’s, similar to that of Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis, or Total War) divided into hundreds of provinces. If a province is not occupied by other clans, it will be captured by a clan with no losses. If a province is occupied by another clan, a newcomer will have to fight for it. We believe that this mode will assume multiple aspects of diplomacy and merchandising.

Jeremy Taylor: World of Tanks is not purely a simulator, even though it includes
some simulator features. We are focusing on making an action game,
easy to play and understand but with no harm to the historical
accuracy. We tried to reach perfect balance between realism and
gameplay, because once either of the parameters is just a bit too
much, the game would lose its X-factor. Thus, World of Tanks is not
a hardcore simulator where you’d have to spend minutes learning how
to get those huge panzers at least moving and aiming. The game’s
difficulty should depend on applying your tactical skills and
coordinating moves with your teammates not struggling with
overwhelmingly complicated controls. At the same time, we have
implemented a sophisticated damage model which allows using
peculiar tactics against different vehicle types or even deal
higher damage to a particular tank model knowing its weak points.
We even have terrain effects, we calculate shell travel time, we
have destructible objects and many other great features that make
game realistic. Each panzer's module has its own individual specs
that correspond to their real prototypes.
We have increased a bit the panzers' speed, acceleration rates, turret rotation and reloading rates. Otherwise, it would be extremely boring to command your vehicles and it would hurt the action aspect in the game deeply.

Jeremy Taylor: Different types of terrain do affect vehicles' motion. Vehicles’
performance on various terrains depends on the type of a terrain,
panzers’ tonnage, type of engine and track. For instance, swampy
terrain decreases the panzers' speed and acceleration rates as well
as mobility.
