Break-in into Wargaming.net

Дата: 03.08.2010 01:37:48
merig00: Several russian players visited the Wargaming's office to see how the tanks are made. I just translated it.
We found the Wargaming.net nest by accident. We were just driving... Standard street, standard office building, standard parki... Stop! We saw something unusual on the parking lot, that made us to hit the breaks and rush into the assembly workshops where our tanks are being put together. There are rumors that Overlord drives to work that green thing with a huge gun.

I must admit, the place was nothing that we imagined. There were no foundry or clanking of metal. It's just two office floors filled with computers on which our game is made by young guys like these:

The Community Management department was also nothing like I have imagined. First of all it's very large - 15 people. Secondly, all they were holding in their hands - computer mouse: no carrots, no whips or other trade tools of an Admin and Moderator. Even their boss Lena Nosova did not have some mere banhammer, so she was forced to answer our questions.
Even though most people are young they approach their work very responsibly. For example, when doing especially important work every employee has to wear personal tank helmet. (just kidding - we just asked one of the artists Vitaliy Lashkov to put it on to create appropriate atmosphere).

And here Pavel Stasevich shows us sketches of awards, which will be given to players for their achievements.

Two fragments of the above picture are worth of cropping. For example, here are medals and badges. It is important to notice that they decided not to copy the real rewards of the Second World War ("We figured that we have no right to give out real medals, even drawn, for the game achievements.") The most significant medals are named after famous tankers (see our FAQ on hero of the battle).

And here are the books laying on the devs tables. The most interesting ones are the top one (Luftwaffe squardrons 1930-1945) and bottom one (Planes of Germany). Who knows what to expect from them.

Just like during the war, everything for the front is made by women' hands. And these hands are so used to work with armor, that... For example we asked the 3D-Manager Yulia Vasileva to do a quick demonstration and sketch us BMW SUV (top right). No matter what Yulya did - the sketch always ended up being a tank.

Not only tanks, but other objects in the game have real life prototypes. This is an example how using a real picture a in game horse sculpture is made. The memorial to some Prussian imperator will be standing on one of the squares of old german town.
