DomoSapien: ST-II, Tier X Heavy It goes without saying that we
couldn’t ignore the real-life project of a double-barreled
tank and we couldn’t help placing it at the top of
the new branch. Meet the Tier X ST-II and let’s delve
into its characteristics. The ST-II is armed with two
122mm guns, each with an alpha of 440 points. With its
perfect stabilization,
the double-barreled gun boasts a dispersion
of 0.4 m and aiming time of 2.9 s. Speaking of its armor
penetration, it’s 258 mm for a standard AP shell and 340 mm for a
special HEAT round. Just like other vehicles, the
ST-II’s guns have their own peculiarities: it takes
11.7 s for one barrel to reload; to switch
between them in cyclical mode you’ll need 3 seconds,
while the time needed to prepare for a double shot is 2.5 seconds
and after each double shot both barrels will
be locked for 5 seconds. As you might
notice, the higher the tier, the better the double-barreled system
performs: a double shot is prepared faster, guns stay deactivated
for less time, while shooting in cyclical mode is
more convenient as it takes you less time to switch between
guns. As for its survivability, the rules are the
same: the turret is armored better (up to 250 mm in the front) as
compared to the hull (150 mm in the front and 140 mm in sides). Yet
this heavy has an ace up its sleeve, its 2,500 hit
points. The view range is 390, while the dynamics is
similar to same-tier Soviet heavies, with a max speed
reaching 40 km/h and a power-to-weight
ratio of 12.2 hp/t. But beware of the turret traverse
speed—it’s only 16 degree/s. Don’t overlook
the fact that all high-tier vehicles with two guns have the
same peculiarities in terms of gameplay. They are heavies with
well-armored turrets and decent dynamics. In battle, they usually
use the standard cyclical shooting, just like other
tanks. But when an opportunity shows up, take advantage of the
double shot option and destroy the enemy with one
shot. Mechanic Overview EXPAND
Double-barreled vehicles can shoot in three different
ways: Cyclical: firing from one gun which reloads
after each shot. Once fired, the gun begins to reload, and the
second one becomes active. You can fire again only once the first
gun has reloaded. Sequential shooting allows you to
fire from the second gun regardless of whether the first one has
reloaded or not. Technically it works like this: after you’ve fired
from the first gun, the second one activates, while the first
begins to reload. However, you don’t need to wait for reloading to
complete and can shoot as soon as the guns
have switched. In this case, however, the
reloading progress of the first gun will be
reset. You can shoot from the second gun after a
short delay. This pause is better known to players as reloading
shells inside the autoloader. If you have ever played Italian tanks
with an autoreloader, then you should be familiar with this
mechanic. These two shooting modes can be
compared to autoreloader mechanics in Italian tanks. Just imagine
that your drum only houses two rounds. The rest is
just the same: the second shot is available after a while. If your
shoot from the second gun while the first is still loading, the
reloading process will be reset. Double shot
implies simultaneous shots from both guns. All you need
to do is wait until both are loaded and then hold the left mouse
button so that preparation for the shot begins. Once prepared (it
will take a few seconds), a double shot occurs automatically.
Please keep in mind, that after a double shot, both guns
are locked and will not reload for some
time. After a few seconds, they will unlock and
begin reloading alternately.
