Fair Play Ban Wave, yep, got me.

This is apparently to protect their system.   Again, security through obscurity is a long time bad practice, that's why most people rely on open source methods to run a secure transaction. Here's a link with more details.   The short story is that relying on the fact that your tools are secret creates a false belief of robustness when in fact, they are not. Nobody can tell obviously because they are hidden, but even Google, Microsoft, Facebook, or any big company, pays thousands, or even millions, every year to hackers who work for them, hack into their system and report the issues so they can be patched before someone malicious finds them.   Now, when someone says "we'll make sure you are you using asymmetric cryptography to send your identity over the network" everyone knows how asymmetric encryption works, but it's not "compromised" just because they disclosed their plans. The system works because it's solid, not because it's obscure and kept out of sight of its clients. When it doesn't work it tells you why, but this glorified ban bot system simply tells you he believes you're guilty.   I've not been banned, and hell I haven't ever used an illegal mod, but it does create a lot of discomfort for me, because I'm pretty sure it doesn't work. And even if it does, if it was made flawlessly by some godlike programmer who knows all and every single case scenario, if it was made by the Chuck Norris of software analysts, the fact that I'm not told what I did wrong will always make me think it doesn't work at all.   After all I hear is a woman must be tossed down a cliff because she's a witch, and then she'll take flight on her magic broom, in which case she must be back to be burned alive. It's just people seem to survive the first trip down the cliff, but none of them appear to be witches, now do they?

eekeeboo:   hacking is different from using cheats or mods. And as a gaming company giving out details on how you detect them is how you help people prevent detection in the future. Anyone who knows how these ban waves happen in other games and they're announced will find very similar stories, it has become almost industry standard with the penchant for cheaters to use more and more extravagant means of creating cheats.    You don't use an illegal mod, you haven't been banned. Anyone else following the rules, hasn't been banned. Everyone thus far who says the do follow rules and banned for no reason have turned out (And yes every single one of them) to have broken the rules one way or another, whether willingly or knowingly or not. Like paying someone to boost your account....
