The base needs to be captured. You need 80+% of the capture percent.
So if you are capture 80% of the base and 5 other tanks rock up to help you finish the cap, the base is captured and you get the invader medal.
In your case the base was not captured at all. The game ended with all tanks killed, before the base was captured. So you captured 0..
The same as if you capture 80% then leave the circle, or if you capture 80% then got shot and it resets your marker..
