GeneralDirection: WCG is a format similar to the Olympics. They chose countries with the largest player base for World of Tanks, each with a single team representation. Regarding the "after thought" comment, that would make more sense if it were 5/4--bracket events only work properly if you have 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, etc. or if you have byes like the National Football League does for its first round. Obviously byes are only viable in a situation like this when all teams involved have competed during a regular season to place appropriately in group standings.

Instead, why not reward them based on how much contribution they make in that battle say, if the player accumulates 1.2k of exp or more in that match or has the highest EXP on that team it receives bonus exp or credits. This will help encourage better teamwork.

GeneralDirection: Rewarding the highest experience would encourage the same reckless play that rewarding a medal would, though--if that were the case. But we don't think it is; I suppose we'll see. :)

dance210:
The battle is over, guns have fallen silent. A lone tanker sits in the middle of a deserted field, reflecting on what has been. It’s not hard to remember the rage and hatred. Screams of “fail team” and “bads should quit.” Hack. Noob. These are the motivational speeches often heard while engaging the enemy. Perhaps they are meant to increase performance or improve teamwork. Or simply the unjust accusations of the frustrated and defeated. Just as easy to recall are the bounced shots or times it penetrated with no damage done. The anguish of lining up the target perfectly only to miss. All tanks rushing in one direction, leaving an open flank and welcome mat for the enemy to stroll into base. Teams that just can’t quite figure out how to work together, no matter how hard they try.
Soon, other memories trickle to the surface, pushing past the negativity. With them, come of the first faint glimpses of light. Team mates who offer unexpected words of praise for a job well done. The willingness of others to sacrifice themselves or perform a role outside the norm to ensure victory for the team. A perfect synergy that allows fourteen strangers to work towards a goal and crush the enemy. Shells that bounce of your Kevlar hull. Speeding across an open field, laughing maniacally as enemy shells crash harmlessly in your wake. These are all simple things, easily forgotten or ignored, but they are a large part of what makes this a pure pleasure to play.
In World of Tanks, this is what I am grateful for. The good and the bad, moments of levity and epic rage. All these elements combine to form this game. Having seen how easy it is for some to spew insults, safe behind the anonymity inherent in a game, I am better able to appreciate the compliments. I enjoy the unpredictability of each match and look forward to seeing what happens next.

GeneralDirection: Hi Lorethian,
First of all, thank you for the well thought out, constructive post. It's great to see feedback like this.
Improving the social elements within World of Tanks is a high priority right now. We're looking at all areas to improve--chat, friends, in-battle experience, post-battle experience, and of course clan elements. I can't give any ETAs right now, but it is definitely on our radar as one of the highest priorities at this time.
At the end of the day, online games become far more interesting--and usually more enjoyable--when you make friends within that game. Without that social aspect, there's less reason to engage fellow players to continue playing beyond a single battle. Even players with like-minded goals within the game may not ever meet up without the proper social infrastructure.
This is definitely something we know we need to improve, and we have our eyes focused on it.

dance210: Convert XP and Free XP are two different things, even though they are located next to each other in the window.
You earn Free XP each battle - this is ~5% of your total XP earned per battle.
Convert XP is when you use gold to convert any tank-specific XP from an elite tank into Free XP. When you hit the Convert XP button, a second window will pop up. This will tell you how much experience your elited tanks have, which can then be converted into Free XP.
Hope this makes sense.
