Link on message: #2376970

Vallter: We always look through suggestion threads. And always compile feedback. You may notice that usually in update notes players state: 'Hey, I've suggested that 1/3/6 months ago'
The  case is that suggestions topics are very sensitive. For example, we take players idea A and add it to development plan. 3 month later the reality of the game changes and the implementation of the idea should be changed as well from idea A to idea A0.9.2. Afterwards another player or Developer has an excellent idea B, which deepens the idea A0.9.2. So the ideas get combined and result as idea C. Afterwards, during the development itself, we may find different technical restrictions. To make a way round we have to convert idea C to idea F. So the initial players idea goes to the game in a very changed shape.
This is disregarding priority of features. Idea can be implemented a lot later than submitted to forums.
And if we answer in suggestion section that idea taken in account, players will receive negative feelings because of their idea not being implemented in next update or implemented in different way.
But we always take in count player suggestion. Do not worry, we are not so arrogant to think that thousands of other players, devoted to the game, cannot have idea better than ours. The best example - 'OverTargetMarkers' modification, which was implemented in the game itself.
About the topics. All above mentioned is used for long-term development. Pinned topics are made to receive an immediate feedback on something that will go to stable version soon or on something that can probably be not well received by our community. This topics are made to have the quickest impact possible on development process.
Well, per your request, I've answered the topic.
P.S. Sorry for my Engrish. I hope that you will understand my inital thought! -)

We're going to try to extend this into Monday, but I can't make any promises, so take advantage of this special while you can.

This is a shooter; it's about frames per second, not pretties. Winning or losing in this game often comes down to split-second timing, precision aiming, and proper target lead. Poor framerates make those tasks either difficult or impossible. I beg of you, developers: optimize the engine BEFORE you add in more eye candy. If you can't optimize any better than what it is right now, then stop with the eye candy. I'm sure your art department can keep themselves occupied with creating new maps and tanks. N.B. - For all you little forum squirrels about to chitter at me to "buy a decent computer," save it. My current build is only 18 months old and is still in the 90th pecentile spec range in both GPU and CPU -- not that the latter makes much difference, since WOT isn't optimized for even dual-core, let alone multi-core. And aren't you supposed to be back in school by now?

Vallter: In the update 8.0 we will add new rendering system, which will lower memory and CPU resources consuming, thus increasing the frames per second rate.

Any idea if the MM implementation could be altered such that a tank would get a relatively even distribution of battle tiers (eg 16:34:34:16 / 25:25:25:25)?
The new and old implementation seems very sensitive to the 'bump'. Ie tanks getting 'drawn up' into battles. Personally i suspect most wouldn't have minded the wider spread if they knew they were going to be top as much as bottom.

GeneralDirection: Yeah, that's something we'd like to do if possible. That "bump" is the main thing proving to be a hurdle in that. We'd definitely like an even distribution in battles for a vehicle, or at least a failsafe mechanism so that if you spend too much time on the bottom then you're guaranteed a better position.
But, this update as an example, would make that failsafe difficult due to the sheer number of players working on the tier 10 mediums and TDs.

GeneralDirection: Glad to hear about the fun factor, and the fact that battles feel more challenging than before. That's exactly what we were aiming for with the changes. :)

View PostFutan, on Aug 03 2012 - 09:04, said: Oh and Generaldirection, please leave the PzIV alone. Pretty please...

GeneralDirection: The changes are primarily intended to make it feel like a tier 5 tank (similar to KV-1 and KV-2 split). We won't go overboard, but right now it can perform far too well for its tier once it's fully upgraded.

Further, the XM60 also had varied armament ( two 120mm guns and the 105mm M68) so it could in fact top off a "firepower and armor medium" techline. Technically speaking, you could simply drop the M46 Patton to T8 premium, M48 to T9 (with T140E3 and T54E2 turret upgrade) and M60 at T10. I'd rather have the experimental XM60 though due to the varied weaponry, and the fact it's fairly light (~44t) so you have plenty of room to mess around with it. Also IMHO, it's a much better option then a T95 variant, which is just a lot of potential controversy.
Just whatever you do, please don't add the M47 as a T10 medium.

GeneralDirection: M47 definitely wouldn't be a tier 10. More than likely 8, or 9 at most.

The game is almost becoming too easy !

GeneralDirection: The PzIV will be toned back a bit in 8.0. We'll announce the changes soon.

GeneralDirection: Ram II is tier 5. :)

GeneralDirection: KV-2 has reduced matchmaking. Just jumping in to confirm that the 12t caused this.

In other skirmishes you could play short handed (I won a game 3 on 7 in one of the skirmishes). If you don't want to increase team size then at least change the rule to something like "maximum 1 tank of each tier". You could also say must field a tier 1 and a tier 2 tank which would be similar to tournaments where the total points available go down if don't field full team.
The other question about TDs and arty has been answered mulitple times in other skirmishes, those are "tanks" in World of Tanks.

lord_farquad: In this case teams must field the full 10 in each battle, this is why there are more than 10 team members allowed. We understand that not everyone may be able to show each night, so we allow subs, as in all tournaments.

So much dissapointment. I suppose we'll probably see the 170mm on the jgdpnz e-100 go down to 230mm penn in 8.0 too.

GeneralDirection: Ahem...

Normally they last until at least Monday morning. I'm also not saying they need to change it, again, just want to make sure I plan appropriately.

GeneralDirection: Not correct. It ends Monday at 7 EST.

Mugsy_: I think the answer to your question is organization. Is a map appropriate for a disorganized group of strangers that won't be working harmoniously towards a goal? Maybe not? But a clan can have a completely different experience.

Tanitha: Tankers!
The World of Tanks development team is excited to announce that update 7.5 has been successfully released for the NA server on August 2, 2012.
7.4 and 7.5 has seen a lot of reworking and re-balancing of individual tanks and tank tree's as well as the introduction of T10 TD's and Mediums.
This has been a progression towards implementing and providing you our players with what we believe is a much better and fairer Matchmaker.
The Match-Making as been reworked for the majority of vehicles and provides a tighter tier spread.
Now players won't normally see vehicles of more than two tiers difference to the tier of his/her own vehicle

Please continue to provide any feedback or suggestions on the matchmaker, into this thread.
Regards
Tan.
