gamemodels3d on the other hand appears to still be in business doing exactly the above but charging for it. At this point I can only assume that they have permission from Wargaming to do this or that it is being run by Wargaming as an alternative revenue stream.

GeneralDirection: They do not have our permission. We have a few ideas regarding this topic, but I can't comment with a concrete answer yet. But we do realize that the information is out there, so we may as well make it easier to review.

View Postrcdrost, on Aug 08 2012 - 13:05, said: Can you please re-adjust the adjustments to credits. You seem to lose more than you make even if you win to cover repairs and damages these days. I've got tier 7 and 8 tanks and I can barley make 20k credits after 20 games. Its going to take a month just to get enough credits at this rate to purchase my T32.

GeneralDirection: In looking at data so far since the update, the matchmaker spread changes have mostly offset any income reductions. Credit averages are very similar pre- and- post-update.

2.Can you give some of the new tanks new upgradable parts?i think it works very well with the M48,i mean that thing is beast with the top gun.

GeneralDirection: 1. We're happy with the E-50M's current ammo capacity. There's a fine balance in deciding whether or not it's a good idea to fire a shot. It fires the slowest of the mediums, so it should expend less ammo over the course of a battle, unless the gun is fired carelessly.
2. Probably not the existing vehicles. As SerB mentioned recently, we like that only certain tier 10s have modules that you can upgrade because it adds extra variety between the nations.

GeneralDirection: Well, the Sturmtiger would more than likely be tier 10 if it's in that branch, so you can assume it'll go to tier 10. :)

View Poststahlhelmii, on Aug 08 2012 - 21:58, said: What exactly do you mean by this?  Will you be able to chose to NOT play Assault?  WHEN will this mystery feature be coming?  What about the proportion of games an individual player gets on the attacking team as opposed to the defending team?  I personally see 10-11 games as attacker before I get a defense on either the 11th or 12th Assault game, and THEN that rare defense is almost ALWAYS on either Erlenberg or Sand River.  If this is RNG driven, doesn't that sound a little less than "random?"

GeneralDirection: This mystery feature is something we hope to introduce in 8.0.

View PostSgtrock12, on Aug 08 2012 - 22:05, said: General Dir,
Why has the KV4 been made so unprofitable? Unless I kill at least 2 tanks and end up on the winning side I lose an avg of approx 7k -12k a battle. That being said I now rarely use it. I have to use my small tiers to make any money to be able to play it. Can the profitability be buffed even a small amount in the next update?
Thanks

GeneralDirection: We'll monitor credit income over the next few days and see if anything needs to change. As I mentioned above, globally credit income has not changed all that much between 7.4 and 7.5.

GeneralDirection: Yes. :)

View Posttankduke1, on Aug 08 2012 - 22:30, said: Hello,
two quick questions:
Will particle rendering performance issues be fixed in 8.0?
As a 3D game programmer I know it shouldn't be as bad as it is currently, I would expect your acquisition of BW would allow this to be remedied.
It seems like tier 6 tanks get placed in a exceedingly large number of tier 8 battles (seems like 90%,) is this working as intended?
Are there any plans to help balance the number of tier 8 battles?
Most notably, it seems to make the Dicker Max less enjoyable than it could be.
A healthier mix of tier 7 battles would make it much more easy to recommend to friends.

GeneralDirection: The new rendering engine should improve particle rendering as well.
For the matchmaker question, where you're placed in the list is entirely dependent on the tanks in the queue when you enter the queue. If there are a lot of tier 8s, there's a good chance you'll get into that battle as a tier 6. It's a reason why we're introducing more middle tier premiums like the D-Max.

Q2:The tiger ace paint camo, the only one that I like more than the grey normal camo, are you going to put it?
Q3:In what patch can we expect the Leopard?
Q4:Storm confirmed that tier 10 artys will be in the game, he said that they are going to add 2 tier lower artys and uptier the higher ones, my question is, I needed 146k xp in my S-51 to unlock the obj-212, the normal  avagere xp that I need to unlock a tier 7 is around 45k  xp, my question is will I get that amount of xp back?
Q5:In What patch do you plan on adding armored skirts to be equipment ?
Q6: since 7.4 I have noticed a large amount of misses, shells go to the right or to the ground or just go flying upper and thats very annoying,  that shouldn't miss, its not lag or RNG, sometimes its a ghost shells goes directly thru him and hits a teammate behind him

GeneralDirection: Q1: Not at this time.
Q2: We're reviewing the camo system right now. 8.0 has adaptive camouflage. Outside of that, I can't say for sure what the plans are with adding new camo.
Q3: Too early to say.
Q4: Not sure I understand this question.
Q5: No ETA.
Q6: Ghost shells are generally caused by latency. You're not always firing where you think you're firing.

View PostHitty40, on Aug 07 2012 - 18:25, said: Along with the 8.0 patch, will the 72km/h speed limit be lifted so we can actually go faster downhill instead of just our max speed?

GeneralDirection: The 72km/h speed limit is in place for network code reasons.

GeneralDirection: Good point. It's something we'll have to consider.

View PostHirumaru, on Aug 07 2012 - 19:14, said: Several questions. Some old, some new.
1) Has there been any new information regarding the random number generator algorithm that World of Tanks uses? Any indications of bias or fairness?

GeneralDirection: No new information, but probably Russian bias.

View PostHirumaru, on Aug 07 2012 - 19:14, said: 2) In regards to the auto-aiming mechanism, will there ever be opportunity to disable it? No, not the right-click "lock on" feature, but the one where the game aims your gun for you.

GeneralDirection: There aren't any changes to the aiming system planned at the moment.

View PostHirumaru, on Aug 07 2012 - 19:14, said: 3) There was an announcement that there would, in time, be 3 KM by 3 KM maps. When such maps are finally developed and released, will the view ranges of tanks be increased, or their accuracy and thus effective range increased, or at least the maximum draw distance increased to suit the maps? Will artillery ranges remain the same or will they be increased as well? Will penetration loss over range be touched at all?

GeneralDirection: Draw distance improvements are part of the new rendering engine, as is the possibility of 3KM by 3KM maps. The rest of the stuff, we'll see. View range changes would only be made through a lot of testing on the new maps to see if it makes gameplay sense.

View PostHirumaru, on Aug 07 2012 - 19:14, said: 4) An old favorite, German penetration data. Is anyone yet willing to admit that copy-paste "conversions" from Wikipedia may be grossly inaccurate and mis-representative of the actual capabilities of these weapons?

GeneralDirection: I don't think the Chieftain or the other military specialists we consult with would appreciate being accused of copy-paste Wikipedia research. Penetration values are altered for gameplay design reasons, not because we felt like holding down the left mouse button while dragging the cursor across our web browser.

View PostHirumaru, on Aug 07 2012 - 19:14, said: 5) Barring Vallter's haughty declaration that it would violate the "laws of higher math", has there been any discussion for reducing the spread for penetration and damage?

GeneralDirection: There hasn't been any discussion on this for random battles.

View PostHirumaru, on Aug 07 2012 - 19:14, said: 6) What is this game exactly? Is it a strategy game? A tactical shooter? An arcade RPG? The "About" page lists this game as a "simulator", an "RPG", an "action" game, and a "strategy" game.

GeneralDirection: It's not a simulator in that you feel like you're sitting in a tank, that's for sure. An RPG? Sure... you play the role of a specific vehicle type. An action game? Absolutely, every battle has action in it. Strategy? Most definitely, just ask anyone that plays competitively--there's plenty of strategy involved in team play.
But to answer your question, it's a team-based multiplayer online battle game. It's hard to assign it to a genre because there's no one genre it fits into as a whole.

View Postmasterzjg, on Aug 07 2012 - 19:45, said: Will the Pan-European (whatever you wanna call it) tree come before or after the Japanese tree?

GeneralDirection: Both of those tech trees are so far off that neither of them are actually in development right now, aside from doing research. So it's pretty hard to say.

View Postmasterzjg, on Aug 07 2012 - 19:49, said: Also, what is the point of changing tier 8 arties to tier 10 arties, and adding two extra tiers? It just makes no sense to me. The way it currently is works fine. Why must WG waste time, effort, and research doing this? What's the point? Lastly, will I be getting back all the extra xp I've been earning to advance up the SPG line?

GeneralDirection: The main reason is it makes it easier to understand in matchmaking terms. A tier 10 SPG being matched against a tier 10 heavy, tier 10 medium, etc. makes more sense than a tier 8.

View PostIntervention, on Aug 07 2012 - 22:08, said: Will some of the tanks that were removed from the gift shop ever make a return during special sales and the like?

GeneralDirection: If you're asking about the pre-order tanks, no. Things like the Type 59? Sure.

Valter previously stated this was a good idea but nothing has changed with 7.5.
Also is anyhting happening to fix it so that when a tank is partly obstructed that only the exposed portions are shown with the RED outline. I hate it when the whole tank shows up and you shoot (out of sniper mode) and nothing happens to find a bit later that 90% of the tank is hidden!

GeneralDirection: Yes, we're evaluating the tanker alerts. I can't say when or if changes will be made though.
The silhouette is not intended to show you where to aim, just that the vehicle is exposed somewhere. The silhouette isn't there to remove the decision making process of whether or not to fire. :)

I heard in this video (2:25) with WoT's creator, that in 8.0 older computers will actually see an increase in FPS because of the new rendering system. How much of an FPS increase will us users see, example being if we stay at the lowest possible settings prerelease, and what increase will we get post release?

GeneralDirection: It'll be entirely dependent on your system, but low end machines should see a nice FPS increase on the lowest settings.

We lack of contact between the devs and the players here in NA server, we have to complain and whine every time we want the real information.

Mugsy_: This is fair and honest feedback, Wargaming is working hard to improve the way we partition and disseminate information in our community. As warrends and yoot pointed out, the information may be there but it is scattered and not centralized. I, personally, appreciate your direct feedback and am grateful that our players take the time to complain and show us where to improve and how to go about it. Expressing your disappointment and frustrations is a very important part of our dialog. On my end, I will help Wargaming continue to improve how we keep our community informed. Since the latest patch (7.5) my KV-5 has been getting HORRENDOUS matchmaking. It is widely known, that the KV-5 can barely penetrate another tier 8 tank... why am I seeing tier 9s and sometimes even 10s in a tank that can barely damage another of it's own kind?

GeneralDirection: The KV-5 should not be seeing tier 10s. Its battle levels were reduced and should see tier 9 maximum.

View PostEliminateur, on Aug 07 2012 - 16:12, said: i'd like some answers on some contradictions i've seen lately with "official" responses:
1) multi-turret: it was a much-vaunted feature of french patch(7.0 was it?), got dropped and was said "will be coming soon", in the last interview with SerB he said "not coming anytime soon, the 2nd gun on the maus won't be of use", so.... why isn't it here already and why was it "deprecated"?
2) multi-core support: always being told that it was given much effort and priority, last news?, won't happen unless you change the Umbre middleware or gt a new version with multicore, i mean... WHAT?, if you are a large customer of a 3rd party software and they won't provide a functionality that's already +6 years due(which is when multicore became mainstream) then you should be wringing their necs and putting extreme pressure on them to DELIVER. Why isn't this given huigh priority as it would solve all the performance issues and bring a HUGE boost for improving graphics, and rendering...
And on tanks themselves:
1) are you going to do anything to check/fix the skirts in all tanks that have them?: T95, E100, Maus, GwE
because they are not working as they should anymore against HE, near side SPG splashes are still dealing almost full damage when they should be absorbed by them AS IT WAS PROMISED when they came out. What's the point of having skirts if the tank is behaving the same against splash damage?, This feature was broken when the new HE mechanics where introduced and is not being fixed nor even acknowledged

GeneralDirection: Contradictions:
1) I wouldn't confuse 'not coming soon' with 'deprecated'. We haven't properly nailed the gameplay of using multiple guns / turrets yet, and there are a few higher priorities, to be completely honest, like the game modes and UC features that need to be developed. Firing a second, weaker gun is not as exciting as being able to call in an air strike during a clan wars battle or reliving historical conflicts.
2) Multi-core support is directly related to upgrading the engine that runs the game. Once we do that (which will be easier now), we'll have multi-core support.
Tanks themselves:
1) Fair point. I'll escalate this because the HE mechanics changes did break that functionality.

GeneralDirection: Are you talking about situations where there are platoons of tier 10s? Yes, platoons can cause problems with the matchmaker. It's not as easy a fix as you might think. We're looking into it.

View Postcammaman, on Aug 07 2012 - 16:17, said: The 50B... come on, surely you must realize this tank is the Least played tier 10, new players are simply not even bothering grinding the line due to the fact they already know how bad it is.. it has 200hp over the batchat, and a little higher alpha damage, Bat wins in every other aspect. If you are not going to give ALL of the heavies a buff in HP, please fix this tanks soft stats, accuracy, dispersion, depression/elevation, acceleration. That or atleast shrink it.. The thing is HUGE! revert to original stats at the very least..

GeneralDirection: As we said when 7.5 was in testing, if we see problems with the 50B we'll make changes in the future. That goes for any tank that is under performing.

View PostGanegrei, on Aug 07 2012 - 16:18, said: Any news on a total rebalancing of all autoloading french tanks.  As of the recent tier bump, they have become noncompetitive, having been subjected to repeated, disastrous nerfs.  Havent seen a French high tier heavy in a game since 7.5 released.  I believe there was a comment from WG about the AMX50B, but all French high tiers need major improvements to keep up with the new tier 10 mediums.

GeneralDirection: I don't think the French tanks need "total re-balancing", but some of them probably need small tweaks. The 13 90 is actually performing quite well since the update.

View PostGanegrei, on Aug 07 2012 - 16:18, said: In that same vein, any chance of matchmaking the french lights as tank destroyers or mediums rather then light tanks.  They lack the scouting abilites of the VK2801, chaffee, and t50-2.  Currently playing the AMX12t or 1375 is like smashing ones head against concrete.

GeneralDirection: I don't really agree about the 13 75, it still has the same mobility it did pre-7.5 when it was commonly used as an alternative to the tier 5 scouts for some tournament setups. But I can understand the 12t; it's definitely not as mobile as the tier 5 scouts.

Q3) Any info about captured tanks that are listed at the bottom of the tech trees with other premiums ?

GeneralDirection: Q1) Possibly. It really depends on what the design team feels fits best gameplay-wise. If a need arises for more tier 8 mediums, we'll add them.
Q2) Can't say at this time, nothing has been decided.
Q3) We're not focused on captured tanks at the moment. But they are basically premiums just like the others listed at the bottom of the tree.

Why do you skip patch numbers (Like when 6.7 went to 7.0 and now when 7.5 is going to 8.0)?
What will physics mean for old computers? How will the slower heavies make up those extreme slopes like on Himmelsdorf?

GeneralDirection: 1. As maps are developed, we'll add more regions where it makes sense from a population standpoint. There needs to be a certain threshold of clans participating to add more territory, otherwise there's no war in clan wars.
2. This is commonplace with software development. A major client revision causes a jump in the first version number, whereas a feature or content update increases the second. A small hotfix will add a tertiary version number (e.g. 7.4.1) until the next feature / content update.
3. Physics initially are planned to be serverside for the most part. It shouldn't cause issues with older computers.

GeneralDirection: We don't have any plans to make changes like that at the moment. The differences in tank types is intended to add variety. If you have extreme examples, we can take a look at it, but part of going into a match should be looking at what strategy your team needs to use to win. Once everyone is guaranteed to have X number of heavies, Y number of mediums, Z number of TDs, etc. it becomes stale.

In a recent battle-- Sand River assault-- my team, the attackers, had five T10s and 3 T8 & 7 arty. The other team had another T10 and an extra arty. Needless to say my team lost.
Will any changes be made to the ELC? 'Cause I like it, and it seems a little too good-- not that I have problem with it. :Smile-playing:

GeneralDirection: No matchmaker changes are planned for 8.0 at the moment.
Regarding the ELC, it seems to be performing about where it should. If we make any changes, they will be minor.

View PostAnfield, on Aug 07 2012 - 15:35, said: Can we expect British Tanks anytime soon? Do you have a estimate on their patch? Also, do you have an estimated time in which the global UC in which NA, EU, and RU server share the same map?
*Edit - Also delete the Assault mode or majorly re-balance it.

GeneralDirection: British tanks should come shortly after physics and the new rendering engine. No ETA on global UC, but the NA region will be hitting the NA cluster very soon. Put your explorer shoes on.
Regarding Assault: no, we won't delete it. The only problem map at the moment is Prokhorovka, the others are fairly balanced in terms of win rates for attackers and defenders. But we will allow you more freedom in the modes you might see in a battle.

View PostCaguamaMkII, on Aug 07 2012 - 15:35, said: Hi there, just wondering...
Just as each tank has its average experience per battle in the stats panel, would it be possible to add the average credit making for each tank??? :Smile_honoring:

GeneralDirection: Interesting idea. We'll continue to refine the stats panel. We want to make it more interesting, and in some ways more robust.

GeneralDirection: No plans at the moment to add new guns to either of those tanks.

View PostThekebecer, on Aug 07 2012 - 15:52, said: -You already talked about bumping arty up to tier 10 and adding some low tier to fit in holes, when are you planning to do this?
-I've read you removed Brumbar and strumtiger from TechTree because you are now planning a complete line of assault gun, is it the truth? Can you expect a complete line up to tier 10 or only some tank in the tree? And the same question as always, when?
-Is UC NA map planned soon? Will we get the Atlantis event like RU server did?
-Can we have a planned timeline for future update like you did for end 2011/early 2012? If yes, can you update it as soon as you know you'll not be able(or decide) to change the order of update?
-Do you plan adding a french  tier 8 premium heavy? If yes do you plan to equip it with autoloader or not?
-When do you plan adding more tank to french tech tree? and adding some connection between the different lines?
-Any news about VK 3601 as heavy?
-Is replacement of T-50-2 planned for 8.0 or later?

GeneralDirection: - A long time from now.
- Where'd you hear that? :)
- NA map soon, Atlantis no. A different event.
- No, that was a bad idea. As evident by patches "not meeting deadlines or expectations". We learned some lessons with that. :)
- Probably, but over the next few updates we're going to look at doing more things like D-Max and Matilda Black Prince to flesh out premiums in the middle tiers more.
- Too soon to talk about French tree expansion. Let's get the RU TD branch and initial British tanks out first.
- No news about this at the moment.
- T-50-2 replacement is not in 8.0.

Mugsy_: Hello Thekebecer,
Thanks for voicing your frustration, perhaps I can shed some light on your concerns. Firstly, one of the reasons you didn't receive the NA map as quickly as expected is because we wanted to design an alternative to the Atlantis event for the NA server. We think you'll really enjoy what we have planned.
I think there are probably many logistical reasons why a company would first release content where their HQ is based, it seems to be a standard in most industries. But please consider the benefits of content which has already been live, played and tested by before you receive it.
The NA map will come soon enough, the integrated global clan wars will be further down the road.
Hang in there, it will be great. ~ Mugsy

WG: We'd like to make some improvements in a, b, and c in our gameplay. Please change x, y, and z to allow us to do that effectively.
