lord_farquad: I'll admit, I forgot about the event until I saw the listing, so I also went and voted for a bunch of categories :Smile-hiding:

lord_farquad: We did, and again, my lack of internet was neither intended nor expected. It's easy to look back and understand what went wrong, but it would have been extremely difficult to predict the series of events that led to it (like my adapter breaking, the hotel being out of 110 adapters, and the hotel not giving me an internet card, etc.).  I still am sorry that there was an issue and we will be better prepared next time.

View PostConflict, on Sep 18 2012 - 19:31, said: The cheap headsets would have been fine had it not been for the obnoxious WG guy going on in Russian over the loudspeaker DURING the matches.
Another issue that isn't really publicized is that there were 3 independent organizations trying to get everything done. Ural Gavonzavod (Sponsor), Russian esports federation, and WG. None of them talked to each other and each rep gave us completely different answers and none of them knew what the other was doing until a crisis occurs. The entire thing was last minute crisis management - not the best way to do things.
WG did the best they could under the circumstances but were again fighting a battle involving lack of experience (lack of management 101) and a vast communications disconnect between the organizers.

lord_farquad: For the record.... the guy going on over the loudspeaker was not WG. In fact there were very few WG personnel present at the event.

We have a screw up with the scheduling 3 matches into the tournament. Now I'm not sure how you guys run your tournaments back-end wise but I can only assume its some sort of an automated system that launches the battles, so if thats true that means that something got glitched. If its a person launching these battles than it was just a mistake by that person. Once the posts started rolling in about the battles not being in the right time we received a 2 word answer of and I quote "Fixed it" from General Direction which is, it seems, a standard WG answer to a big problem. Barely an acknowledgment of the problem and a 2-3 word response that we shouldn't worry about it anymore. Now I can understand that dealing with tourney problems may not exactly be GD's job description but a simple answer of something like "postponed until our E-Sports manager gets back from moscow" would have been perfect. Instead we were assured the problem (whatever it was) was fixed when 4 days later it clearly was not at all. And finally there was absolutely no warning that the battles on sunday would still be screwed up. We didn't hear anything until you got back and said "herp derp I was out of contact, what happened?" (not trying to be a dick here LF it was just comical when you poked your head up yesterday and asked what happened).
Now its fantastic that you're hiring another E-sports person dedicated to this stuff and hopefully this means these issues will be few and far between from now on, but can you understand where these things can be made into an even bigger issue when there is no information coming from the dev team over what blew up?

lord_farquad: Naturally I cannot, nor will not speak for GD, I do have to thank him however for trying to handle the situation.
Secondly, the dev team has absolutely nothing to do with tournaments, so I'm not sure why they would be saying anything anyways. I've also told you what the issue was, I had no internet access while I was in Moscow. Which unfortunately prevented me from being able to respond in any way.
to some other statements, I think you'll find that if you track the amount of issues we've had, not only are they continually decreasing, but it's not the majority of tournaments. I still apologize for the issues, as I obviously don't want any (and that's what we're trying to achieve), but as one person it's quite difficult to handle the amount of events that occur in relation to World of Tanks eSports... which is exactly why we're expanding on our eSports team.

In the same way if my wife asks how she looks in a certain outfit, I ask "You want the truth or what you want to hear?" In other words, don't ask me if you don't want my real answer. In the same way if you have to ask me to vote for you, I probably was not going to vote for you. If you do not feel your player base would choose you over another title then you are not confident in your game is my thought.

lord_farquad: My counter would be... not everyone is even aware of the awards, so in some ways it's merely to inform you of them.... just a thought.

Obviously it's hard for me to travel, manage live events, and schedule battles so now we'll have someone dedicated to that. This should allow us to avoid the vast majority of these kinds of scheduling issues in the future.

lord_farquad: Correct, I should have put it "Announced Time." Generally speaking if a battle goes off at a time that was not posted or announced it is considered an error and not counted.

View Postdopper, on Sep 18 2012 - 19:35, said: Well I've sacrificed the past 3 evenings of my personal life to commit time during the usual scheduled times for the Skirmish XVI championship round and that skirmish schedule hadn't been updated and the battle didn't pop up for close to half a week now already. Because of that scheduling mishap in addition to the post-meridian mishap popping at the anti-meridian time the other day I assumed since the Anti-Meridian tournament page didn't have a scheduled day/time in place that it wasn't going to occur either without some adequate notice. Someone must've updated the schedule 8 or less hours prior to the actual battle time because when I had last checked it there was nothing scheduled.
The result was 2 of our substitute players playing after purchasing alternative tanks at the last minute and not able to compete with what we had practiced and planned for. The frustrating thing is the time, money (gold) and effort we as players invest in preparing for these events and the competition organizers don't even have the courtesy to give us adequate notification about the rescheduled dates/times on these events after these recurring schedule screw ups.

lord_farquad: Sorry for the issues caused this past weekend. As I mentioned in the PM thread, I unfortunately had no internet while in Moscow for Ural Steel, and was unaware that scheduling issues were occurring.

lord_farquad: Also, as always, the battles that count were those fought at the scheduled time on the 14th.
