View PostMemoryReborn, on 11 November 2010 - 05:39 AM, said: Mr. Vic, been checking your chart with the chart of individual research costs that Overlord did, and I think there's a little discrepancy between the two.
The main problem is the SPG line; I think you are getting the sum from the wrong columns. For example, if it took 155 EXP to get the T57, and 2,725 EXP to go from T57 to M37, it should cost 2,880 EXP total, not 14,045. That number is adding the 155 EXP from T1 -> T57 and M37 -> M7. And from there it just chains.
I think the total EXP cost of the M41 should be 61,235. You have the transition costs correct though.

MrVic: Nice catch yeah had one of my formulas get borked when I was moving some data around :) Thanks

1. The maximum number of players that can fight for a province suppose to be 20. So if you have 15 member-tokens you can hire 5 more mercenaries. If you have 0 member-tokens you can still hire maximum 5 mercenaries.
2. I was correct on the leaving your territory unprotected. You can do that, if it is attacked there will be a battle set up. However at most what you can do is to hire 5 mercenaries to fight for it, otherwise it will be forfeited since you have no defense forces there.
you sure you can hire 5 extra players to make 20 if you already have 15?? i'm pretty sure 15 is max from what i read.. even if you hire mercs you can only use 15, when your deciding who to put int he room (in a training room style it seems) if you choose the merc or not thats your choice but its still 15.
thats what i understood anyway.

That's how I understood it originally too, hence the update comment. Devs are planning up to 20 players.

The way it works is pretty straight forward, You get the game for free and you can play without gold but it takes a lot longer to move up the tiers or you can buy a premium account which allows you more choices and privelages much like first class section on a airplane. Remember also that the Developers, marketers, and employees of Wargames need to feed their families too.
So the only real question you should ask is....You want to fly first class or coach?

ARGO: My favorite tactician: Scipio Afrikanis
War with Hannibal, the Battle of Zama
Hannibal did have a trained pool of soldiers who had fought in Italy, as well as eighty war elephants. Hannibal could boast a strength of 58,000 infantry and 6,000 cavalry, compared to Scipio's 34,000 infantry and 8,700 cavalry. The two generals met on a plain between Carthage and Utica on October 19, 202 BC, at the Battle of Zama. Despite mutual admiration, negotiations foundered due largely to Roman distrust of the Carthaginians as a result of the Carthaginian attack on Saguntum, the breach of protocols which ended the First Punic War (known as Punic Faith), and a perceived breach in contemporary military etiquette, due to Hannibal's numerous ambushes.
Hannibal arranged his infantry in three phalangial lines designed to overlap the Roman lines. His strategy, so oft reliant upon subtle stratagems, was simple: a massive forward attack by the war elephants would create gaps in the Roman lines, which would be exploited by the infantry, supported by the cavalry.
Rather than arranging his forces in the traditional manipular lines, which put the hastati, principes, and triarii in succeeding lines parallel to the enemy's line, Scipio instead put the maniples in lines perpendicular to the enemy, a stratagem designed to counter the war elephants. When the Carthaginian elephants charged, they found well laid traps before the Roman position, and were greeted by Roman trumpeters which drove many back out of confusion and fear. In addition, many elephants were goaded harmlessly through the loose ranks by the velites and other skirmishers. Roman javelins were used to good effect, and the sharp traps caused further disorder among the elephants. Many of them were so distraught that they charged back into their own lines. The Roman infantry was greatly rattled by the elephants, but Massinissa's Numidian and Laelius' Roman cavalry began to drive the opposing cavalry off the field. Both cavalry commanders pursued their routing Carthaginian counterparts, leaving the Carthaginian and Roman infantries to engage one another. The resulting infantry clash was fierce and bloody, with neither side achieving local superiority. The Roman infantry had driven off the two front lines of the Carthaginian army and in the respite, took an opportunity to drink water. The Roman army was then drawn up in one long line (as opposed to the traditional three lines) in order to match the length of Hannibal's line. Scipio's army then marched towards Hannibal's veterans, who had not yet taken part in the battle. The final struggle was bitter, and only won when the allied cavalry rallied and returned to the battle field. Charging the rear of Hannibal's army, they caused what many historians have called the "Roman Cannae".

ARGO: Just for the sake of this post let's say Hitler was indeed a female and came out exactly the same "ideals wise" as she did as a male. Let's think about this.....SERIOUSLY.
Hitler as a women would and could have been far more dangerous and or successful. Don't ever make the mistake of underestimating the power of a women.
Fact, women motivate men.
Fact history has MANY female heroins who lead armies if I remember correctly and they were twice as vicious as their male counterparts.
Fact, Hell hath no fury like a women's scorn.
Hitler would have a better weapon in addition to his ability to draw a crowd now he has sex on his side, How many more people would listen to a women over a man? Think about it. Women in that time period would have been in awe of such a powerful women, they may even have idolized him/her. And God forbid he was a really good looking women. To end this I would say if my hunch is correct and all things were the same with Hitler except his sex, then the way they fought the war may have been very very different.

Overlord: On the assumption that your statistics is not representative and you have been playing without premium account all the time, I can say that your performance on M4 Sherman is better than average performance of both T-34 and PzIV.
Your stats: win rate - 51%, survival rate - 19%, exp per battle - 323.
T-34 / PzIV average stats: win rate - 50% / 49%, survival rate - 15% / 18%, exp per battle - 274 / 279.
As for M4A3E8, the figures are less impressive.
Your stats: win rate - 48%, survival rate - 14%, exp per battle - 330.
T-34-85 / VK3601H (the most popular German tier 6 medium) average stats: win rate - 49% / 50%, survival rate - 17% / 20%, exp per battle - 325 / 335.
Without making any conclusions, just hollow figures.

What I find is odd though, is why is a Live server getting things befor a Beta Test server, in all the other beta tests I have been involved in, it was the other way around from what I am seeing now.
The only thing that comes to mind is a bit of favortism and that some of my fellow Americans tend to whine a lot so not as objective do to to much patriotism after all, with a game on based on history, most people like their side to kick more ass right or wrong.
Just curious.

Overlord: No wonder that the crow thinks its own bird fairest.
Russian server traditionally gets updated first, since Russian beta started long before international beta test. Moreover supertests necessary for rough testing of any new content are conducted with Russian testers mostly.
Since all the release features haven't been added yet, Russian version is not live in full sense of the word. It is needed to polish international one, that 's why it has gone "live" quite early.
We do understand the fact that release version gets updates prior to beta version may seem weird.

the premium tanks so far are from "land-lease" (Mathinda, Valentine, M3 Stuart), captured ones or wierd hybrids like PZ V-IV or KV-220; but the M4A3-T26 will break this circle and provide an clear advantage over any M4s present in the tech tree
you speak of adding the M4A3E8 Jumbo to the list, but isn't that pointless since the hull will most likely be less armored than the M4A3E8's and with the same 76mm M1A1 gun!??!?
I see U added the M4A5 to the mix as the RamII but as a premium tank
why not add the M4A6 in the regular tech tree instead of the Jumbo?

It was a legitimate prototype, and at least one was made. Not only that, but the Sherman chassis could actually take the upgrade which is more than can be said for some of the other tanks and their upgrades (Pz.Kpfw IV with the Schmallturm and 7.5-cm L/70 for one.)

Overlord: M4A3E8 is not going to be the only tier 6 medium. M4A3E2 will be added as well.

And now you're telling us that a bandaid solution to the problem requires us to pay real money just to have an armament that competes with other vehicles in that tier? Are you serious, Overlord? I realize that you're only the messenger, but that's just plain unbelievable.

Check them first, give your well-grounded opinions afterwards.
If needed for balance purposes, the the respective (US) tanks will be adjusted to match their Soviet and German opponents. To maintain decent variety of vehicles we need to be hmm creative in designing lists of researchable and premium tanks.

ARGO: I also remember World of Construction Trucks too....There is a video for that as well.

ARGO: Here is a bit of inspiration for you to remember my friend when your killing yourself trying to make a credit or two.
When your sitting waiting for the battle to start, look around at the other tanks and when you see those IS, IS3, IS4, IS7s and KV3s remember that they were all in your tank at one time.........You can do it even without premium trust me, I was there too. :Smile_honoring:

as for the view range ... it's broken; did some testing and found that actual view range is ~20% less than the one specified in tank's specs
also, mounting coated optics and binoculars will stack each other giving quite a hefty view-range bonus
Unless your crew is at 100% then the specs you see for the tank aren't how your tank will perform. Only a 100% loader can give you the shots/min spec, etc.

Ok......but
How do they explain why a tank could be sitting next to the flag at the same distance out in the open at the same range and you still do not see him until you literaly trip over him and he already has his cannon pointed at you?
Or for that matter if your tracking a moving tank across an open field, you track it then it disappears and the crew fix the track while you are shotting at the space the tank "should be" and no hits?

should the developers add the 90mm gun to the M4A3E8 Sherman tank?

Overlord: 90mm M3 gun is not available for M4A3E8 Sherman for one good reason, there will be a separate M4 model with M26 turret and 90mm M3 gun mounted. That tank hasn't been added to the full US tree yet, one more premium vehicle.

ARGO: Steelers708 is right,
At that close range bush or no bush, you should by all ways and means be able to see a tank and light it up. That is absurd and I will say it as many times as needed. Also once you have seen a tank, you should KEEP seeing the tank until it moves beyond your normal vision range or behind something. I agree, this is not Star Trek, they did not have cloaking devices in 1939-1955.....absurd! I have seen this way to many times and YES I believe it is wrong and something should be done. I mean seriously, look how close the Ferdy is to the goal and besides, if he can clearly see the tank is capping then why can't he see the tank?
BTW, that bush is NOT within the goal circle either......
