lord_farquad: Well ladies & gentlemen, I am unfortunately headed home for the evening, and as I think this thread has likely gone as far as it can, constructively, I will be requesting that the thread be closed. I hope that everyone was able to enjoy the tournament so far despite this event, which in the grand scheme of things I believe is a fairly small issue.
I hope everyone enjoys the the rest of the tournament, and know that we will be providing the feedback to get the system changed so that bans during Special Battles occur after the battle not during.
I'd also like to thank both Tank and Yankee for trying to reduce the collateral here.

lord_farquad: I think he was trying to make two separate points. His point was, even if he had known, it would still have been an issue. Ultimately, it's my fault for not foreseeing the issue, and I apologize. If you need to blame someone please blame me. The GMs are only trying to keep the game clean.

However you couldn't be more wrong in this case . As Bar stated they where just talking about the people still in the tourny and Sgtgrunt over heard them , took it upon himself to drop the ban hammer during the match . Even though there was no complaint made !!!
If that is'nt MOD manipulation then what is ??

lord_farquad: I appreciate that and ask that you believe me when I say this was not Grunt's intention at all (he in fact did a facepalm, right in front of me, when he found out that it was during a tournament). If anything, I should have asked that name changes be run by myself as well. So if anything it's my fault for not taking the necessary precautions, this isn't something I foresaw being an issue. So I apologize for that. We will definitely try to take precautions next time, but I think everyone should pay special attention to this scenario in the future, as team captains now know what to do to avoid having similar issues.
Grunt wasn't aware of the context. Thus he had no idea it was during a tournament. He simply discovered a name that required banning, and did what he is here to do.

Because it shows that nothing has changed or WG doesn't feel like they did anything wrong after the STFU clan disband fiasco.

lord_farquad: Straight from the game rules: "3.01 that contain profanity, including its abbreviated form." which you can find here
This had nothing to do with what occurred during the STFU issue, different people, different system.

When we were accepted to the tourny then the names should be approved. Banning someone durring mid battle of this tourny is in of its self intent. I respect Farquad, but do dont know if i believe grunt nor do other people.

lord_farquad: I believe grunt did exactly what he should have. Obviously he can't be aware of everyone's participation in every event.
Also, the system normally waits until after a battle to ban someone, it seems that only during Special Battles is this an issue. I think the solution here is for us to simply provide this feedback to the devs, as I think Special Battles should work the same way.

I do however think that Sgt_grunt let his personal feelings about DOS affect the outcome ..
TY for you post Yankee

lord_farquad: For the record, Sgtgrunt was not even aware that he was participating in the tournament. It's not possible for every GM/Mod to know the tournament involvement of every player.

Using them to then assign placements in a followup NEW structure tournament is not at all obvious or even reasonable. You are aware than some divisions got more teams than others? Compromising your reasoning behind seeding teams based on points.

lord_farquad: This is exactly how we have handled previous qualifiers, I don't see why it would change now.
And yes, I'm aware there were different numbers in different divisions, fortunately we seeded them accordingly.

Captain_Judo: We sorted all teams based on points earned in the qualifying round. The fact that teams played variable games carried no significant impact on seeding.
