The_Chieftain: Long range (unless top tier), and angling. Tiger I has pretty much the lowest thickness ratio of side armor to front armor of any tank in the game, so you can angle to hull to up to some 40 degrees to the likely direction of incoming fire before it becomes a liability. This is a significant increase in effective thickness and you will start to ricochet a tiny amount. Don't forget to 'aim off' during the reload process to increase relative thickness of the turret front. When you combine that with the long 8.8 that you get after unlocking, this can become quite a nasty customer.   But, yes, if well tiered, it can be used for the final push, as it were. Do some long-distance reducing, then use the armor and hitpoints up close. The vehicle's not actually that slow.
