As a HT, (or any class) you should trade your HP for enemy's HP, and when you are low HP other tank should replace you and take damage, while you should move to second line. If you are lucky, or skilled, you sometime might block some damage, therefore you can trade more of your virtual HP (the one you didn't lost) for enemy's real HP. But the goal is not to block as much damage as possible, the goal is to not get hit at all !!! That's how you normally play game, at least I do and most of my friends. Purposely exposing your tank for enemy guns is really bad idea. With that type of missions WG proves that they don't know how to play their own game ... P.S. The only tank I know of you can purposely expose to enemy with high probability of blocking damage is Obj 268-4 which happens to be tank destroyer not heavy tank...
